It could not have come at a worse time. First an oil rig in the gulf of Mexico blew up because the ‘blow-out’ preventers failed, resulting in the rig leaking a guesstimated 5,000 barrels of oil. And now, less than a month after the Gulf of Mexico incident, another offshore platform is in trouble. This time in Venezuella where an offshore natural platform has sunk.
