I do not know how to break this news to my friends and colleagues, especially those who value and treasure the wonders of sea-floor massive sulfide and hydrothermal vent ecosystems in PNG but the government of PNG has decided to go ahead and grant mining license for mining precious metals from sea-floor massive sulfide deposits in Manus basin, PNG.
Yes, it is official and I am attaching a copy of the official invitation sent out to media groups in PNG to witness the Prime Minister of PNG granting the license tomorrow.
